As 2017 draws to a close, finally a few days to contemplate what we have been up to this year.

It’s been a busy year, with events and exhibitions both national and international.

Internationally, we had a four month solo exhibition of Submergence at Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art in Arizona. We did a British Council workshop and exhibition in Istanbul, and also showed at Signal festival (Prague) and Lumina (Cascais, Portugal). And we exhibited in an unused retail space in Cairo for a month.

Closer to home, we showed at Canary Wharf’s Winter Lights Festival, Southampton Festival of Light, Enchanted Forest (Pitlochry, Scotland) and Irvine Harbour Illuminations Festival (Scotland). And works at Royal Botanical Gardens Edinburgh, Blenheim Palace and Sudeley Castle winter festivals are exhibiting right now.

We also renewed our interest in VJ-ing with a TEN HOUR live set exploring the ambient potential of our Ocean of Light system at Motion club, Bristol (aah, summer!). Something we hope to do more of in 2018.

All of this has resulted in two new pieces Flow (Pitlochry and Sudeley) and On the Tide (Irvine), as well as some collaborations and variations on existing works.

And finally, we were awarded an honorary mention at this year’s Ars Electronica festival, for We Are Not Alone, a project from a couple of years ago that explored bacterial bioluminescence and spatialised sound.

Here’s looking forward to 2018 – may it be peaceful at a global and national level, and productive!
