Circular Echoes (2022)

A symbol of completeness, wholeness, the centreā€¦ or a boundary. An endless line with no beginning or end; is it the journey itself, a representation of freedom, or is it the border across which we cannot travel, the fence that surrounds us?

Circular Echoes is a circle of light with many moods. Calm and tumultuous, touchable yet distant, contained yet infinite, liminal, transgressable. Its 36 orbs emanate light and sound, together creating a choreographed whirling, spatialised, immersive audio-visual symphony. The piece can be experienced from inside or outside the circle, each vantage point giving a unique perspective on the work and the composition.

Circular Echoes explores the use of form, and spatialised sound and light, in more intimate and contemplative settings.

A variant of Circular Echoes was first shown as part of the Deliaphonic Festival in Coventry UK (3-6 March 2022. Deliaphonic images: Ben Cook).
